At iGan Partners, our backgrounds are diverse, spanning a number of industries and skill sets. A common thread among us, however, is a passion for entrepreneurship. We understand first-hand the challenges facing growing businesses, having faced them ourselves. We've been through the ups and downs of building successful ventures and rely on these experiences when helping to create value for our partner companies.



Michael Aron, Partner

Michael has over 20 years of experience in corporate finance, banking and entrepreneurship. He is a Co-Founder and Director of Cidel Bank & Trust, an international private bank, and the Co-Founder of Serius Funds. Prior to founding Cidel, Michael was a Senior Executive at Bayshore Bank and a Senior Manager at KPMG Peat Marwick's financial advisory practice.  Michael Aron has been involved in a wide variety of businesses including, life sciences, financial, consumer services, real estate, resources and banking.  Michael Aron is a Chartered Accountant


Sam Ifergan, Partner, President & CEO

Sam has over 15 years of entrepreneurial, technology and venture capital experience.  As the leader of iGan Partners team he is involved in evaluating new investment prospects, structuring transactions, helping companies raise funds,  and leading the firm's other efforts with respect to portfolio companies. Sam has been extensively involved in many of iGan’s businesses , often serving as CEO particularly in the early stages of each company's development. Prior to founding iGan, he founded and ran Hargan Ventures, a venture capital firm.  He also was strategy consultant with Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman) where he advised Fortune 500 companies on corporate strategy. Sam has also held general management roles at NCR, where he led the deployment of enterprise-grade information technology systems. Sam holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from McGill University and an MBA from the John Molson School of Business.


Geoff Matus, Partner

Geoff, who has extensive business experience in the United States, Canada and abroad, is also a chairman and director of a number of other manufacturing, real state and financial companies, including being Chairman of Cidel Financial Group. He is an honorary director and past chair of the board of directors of the Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care. He is a past member of the Governing Council of the University of Toronto and was recently awarded the prestigious Arbor Awards for outstanding service to the university. Geoff is a member of the board of each of the Canadian Opera Company and the MaRS Discovery District and was recently appointed chair of the investment committee of the University of Toronto Pension and Endowment Fund. In 2005, Geoff was a recipient of the Jewish Federation award for outstanding service to his community.

Geoff Graduated with Bachelor of Commerce and Law Degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, and received a Law Degree from Columbia University in New York.


E. Adrian Mayer, Partner

Mr. Meyer is a Chartered Accountant and the co-founder and President of Cidel Bank & Trust Inc.,a private wealth management bank and a trust company. Cidel is now the largest privately owned bank and trust company in Barbados. Prior to this Mr. Meyer held executive level positions in two of the three largest trust companies in Canada. He began his career with Coopers & Lybrand in South Africa after receiving a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours from Rhodes University.


Michael Stein, Partner
 

Mr. Stein, is founder and President & CEO of MPI and has been engaged in real estate investment and development since 1988. Between 1978 and 1987, Mr Stein held progressively senior positions, ultimately holding the position of Executive Vice-President responsible for operations with Mortgages Insurance Company of Canada. Mr. Stein is a founder and current chairman of CAP REIT, (a TSE listed REIT), a member of World Presidents’ Organization and Chief Executives Organization. Mr. Stein is a graduate engineer and holds an MBA degree in Finance and International Business form Columbia University in New York. Mr. Stein is located in Toronto, Ontario.


Olivier Giner, Vice President

Olivier has more than 10 years of experience advising public and private companies on M&A transactions and financings. As vice president, he participates in the origination, assessment, structuring and execution of new transactions. Prior to joining iGan Partners he was a director in CIBC World Markets' investment banking group, focusing on the telecom, media and technology sectors. He also worked as a corporate lawyer for Clifford Chance in the United Kingdom and Stikeman Elliott in Montreal. Olivier graduated with a Bachelor of Law Degree from Laval University and holds an MBA from INSEAD.


Craig Rimer, STRATEGIC ADVISOR

Craig is a director and the chief executive officer of Cidel Bank & Trust Inc. Craig is a director of Toron Capital Markets Inc.; Nexgen Financial Limited Partnership - a Canadian mutual fund company; First Bermuda Group and AFL Investments Limited - two Bermuda - based financial services firms. His former positions include serving as a managing director in CIBC World Markets' Financial Products Division, and working in the derivatives division of Bankers Trust Company. He acts as advisor to the investment committee of the University of Toronto Pension and Endowment Fund, is the current co-chair of the investment committee of Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care's Foundation, a director of the Baycrest Centre, and a director of the UJA Federation of Greater Toronto. Craig graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BSc in economics from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton Business School.
